Productions by Shaboo reconnects adults with their inner child to strengthen the two most important skills of the 21st Century: Imagination and Creativity.
Award-winning parent company Shaboo Prints always explored video production. It pioneered playful greeting cards that included scannable QR codes embedded with animated stories and produced weekly videos looking at life through the lens of Creativity. Bringing playfully fun worlds and characters for people to experience was its mission but it was soon realized that providing alternate virtual experiences were entirely dependent on the viewer’s ability to imagine and create. Unfortunately, studies such as the Torrence Test of Creative Thinking (TTCT), are proving that there is a decline in creativity across all age groups, but more steeply among adults.
Then the pandemic hit and the need for deeper levels of imagination and creativity increased as many suffered from physical separation, confinement and extreme change.
Productions by Shaboo began then as a way to provide safe and fun virtual excursions and to increase public interest and awareness for the benefits and practicality of using greater levels of imagination and creativity in everyday life.
Its inaugural episodic program, Your New Odyssey: An Inward Journey to Imagination, quickly became well-received and broadcasted by local public TV. In its first year it won numerous top awards, including a Telly in the Public Interest and Awareness category.
Today, the team at Production by Shaboo stays busy innovating new ways to employ video, film and other multimedia to safely and playfully engage and immerse viewers into deeper levels of imagination and creativity. When people reconnect with the creative genius of their youth, mental and physical health, critical thinking, emotional resilience, problem-solving, enthusiasm and innovation improves and these are but a few of the proven benefits of being more imaginative and creative. Once you let your original creative self out…well, you want to put her/him back in the tube!
Veronica named her company after a game she used to play with her friend's son. “We would play and frolic and I would yell, ‘Roo Shaboo Shaboo!’ That has always stuck with me, and Shaboo became the perfect name for the company I was creating. Shaboo represents a time in our lives when the world was magical and the potential was huge and imagination was powerful. I try to remind folks of that world – of their ability to connect, express, and play.”
